Heady Topper - The Alchemist - Beer of the Day - Beer of the Day.

Heady Topper has a reputation for being one of the best beers available, which we would certainly agree with. The availability is the challenge, as it's hard to get your hands on this beer, even in Vermont! But if you can get it, you'll find a double IPA that is so well balanced and smooth. There's a ton of hops, some citrus and pine, but little or no hop bitterness. Malts are there and they don't compete with the hops, but they provide just the right amount of balance. This is a beer that you can truly describe as delicious.

Heady is one of my all time favorite beers, I have drunk a lot of beers in my time (I'm 70+ years old and a brewer) and this is in my top 2 or 3 beers from anywhere in the world.

I think right now Heady is, Stone is close as is Crusher, but I am always looking for that one that might be a little edger, pushing the envelope as far as brewing for balance, flavor, etc. Hill Farmstead Brewery in Vermont is producing some pretty edgy brews I enjoy when I can get them. Pliny the Elder from Russian Brewing is another that gets into my top favorites, but it is hard to get here in New England. Hope I satisfied your curiosity dheliker.
