Queen Of Hearts (2018)
Rating:
What did you think of it? Never Tried It
Beautiful appearance, with a deep gold, pale amber color. There’s a ½ finger of head that is thin and wispy, but long lasting with ample lacing left on the glass. The aroma is unique and interesting, with a botanical flavor that certainly stems from the gin barrels where this beer is aged. The 6.5% ABV is pretty light for a barrel aged beer, but gin barrels are different. It imparts herbal and botanical flavors, but the taste is somewhat milder than the aroma. We get a lot of yeast, but also some doughy malts, and floral hops. But the gin flavor is apparent throughout, with a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. Different but good, the 2018 release of Queen of Hearts is a special beer from Pelican.
